Malin Kundang

This is my version of Malin Kundang, another Indonesian folktale character. So here's his story:

Malin Kundang was born and raised by his single mother on a poverty-stricken west Sumatra. In west Sumatra, a boy had to leave his home to be considered as an adult (I know this because I'm half-west-Sumatran lol), so Malin went to leave his home to become a sailor. Years passed and Malin Kundang became a very powerful and wealthy admiral. However, his wealth turned him into an arrogant person.
After many years of adventures, Malin went home, he was greeted by his poor mother. Ashamed by the appearance of his poor mother, Malin pretended not to know this old woman and kicked her as if she was a beggar. Malin's mother then cursed Malin: A storm came and destroyed his entire fleet, and Malin was turned into stone while writhing in pain begging forgiveness from his mother.
Today, a giant human-like stone still sits on a shore in Sumatra, believed by many as the remains of Malin Kundang.
